Summary:
Reporting to the Human Resources (HR) Manager, the HR Generalist is an exempt position with responsibilities for a broad range of Human Resources functions.
The HR Generalist position's main purpose and function is to provide overall support to the HR Manager with certain functional areas within Human Resources to include full-cycle recruitment, retention, employee relations, training, compensation analysis, and HRIS data analysis and reporting.
The HR Generalist will be assigned multiple tasks in two or more of the HR functional areas with the recruiting and onboarding process as the main functions.
Responsibilities Responsible for developing recruiting strategies, full-life cycle recruiting to include:
actively sourcing, screening, interviewing, and presenting qualified candidates to hiring managers.
Develops and builds a strong candidate base through active recruitment from all arenas internal databases, job fairs, internet, social media/networking, referrals, military relations, college relations, advertising, etc.
Manages and administers the pre-employment and on-boarding processes.
Extend job offers and perform all administrative tasks related to transferring an applicant to new hire status or promotion of an existing employee, as well as timely follow-up with candidates not selected.
Assists with the preparation of the Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) and work with managers to ensure compliance with AAP goals and EEO laws and regulations.
Provides HR service delivery to the staff in all matters related to their employment, and acts as the frontline position providing general information, answering routine questions, and assisting staff to understand policies and procedures related to Human Resources.
Consult with managers and employees on employee relations issues.
Coach managers or arrange coaching in performance management, employee relations, retention and career development Supports Training and Development program, schedules and compliance.
Communicates with appropriate managers and executive team on the 90 introductory review process.
Follow up with all new hires and managers before the end of probation to aide in retention efforts and ascertain employee satisfaction.
Promotes open communication within all levels of the organization to positively resolve routine employee relations issues, while promoting and maintaining the integrity of employees and the organization.
Administers and explains respective assigned human resources policies, programs, and procedures, and work with employees and supervisors to gain compliance.
Assist with preparing human resources reports and metrics.
Manage or contribute to special projects as assigned.
Serve as back up during the HR Manager's absence.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum three (2) years of progressive hands-on Human Resources experience in two or more human resource disciplines including, but not limited to recruiting, employee relations, HR information system, employee development, operations, policy compliance, and performance management is required.
Human Resources Certification preferred.
Solid recruiting techniques for multiple positions to include direct sourcing, search engines, screening, interviewing, negotiating, diversity hiring, etc.
Ability and experience using automated recruitment and hiring systems (applicant tracking systems, job boards, social media outlets, etc.
) to evaluate and refer applicants for employment selection.
Competencies in the traditional human resources core skills areas as a generalist.
Experience with complaint procedures and investigations and handling confidential and sensitive issues.
Knowledge of federal affirmative action regulations and methodologies including experience with underutilization and adverse impact.
Proven knowledge and application of federal and state employment law and best practices.
Self-motivated with excellent communication skills over the phone and in person; relationship management, and the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Proficient in HRIS and Microsoft products.
Ability to move multiple projects forward through effective time management and organizational skills with project/timeline capabilities while demonstrating learning agility.
Excellent interpersonal skills that demonstrates highly a collaborative work style and ability to interact effectively and professionally, including an ability to cultivate broad internal/external network.
Possess organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to plan with a sense of urgency.
Able to demonstrate strong problem-solving, judgment, and prioritization skills and anticipate issues before they reach crisis point.
Business acumen a plus.
